With the growth of social media many businesses are facing the pressure of investing time, resources and money into social, Although social has been around for more than 15 years with the inception of Myspace businesses have had a tough time adapting to this hyper reactive community. Here are some ways to hack your way through Facebook and help solidify great opportunities for sales.
What are Facebook Groups?
Facebook groups are hyper specific communities that can, talk, communicate, share in one public or private forum. These communities range from professional networks to mom’s or even regional groups like couponing, biking or parents. If you know what your demographics you can search and find these groups.
Whats the Next Step?
The main rule is not to “PP” on your customers. Don’t become a member and start to product push your services or products. The key is to gain trust and become a regular contributor. You must share, like, ask and answer questions. This established authority and opportunity to win “brownie points” within the community. One of the things that can help is by creating IFFT recipes that allow you to automate sharing of demographic specific news. Don’t overdo it, make sure it posts once a week and check for comments to answer to. This alleviates having to look for content to post within your group.
What are some Ideas to do this?
One you have established this trust for some time you will want subtly advertise your product, here are some of my ideas I have used before
1. Offer “exclusive” discounts to the group. This works really well if they are a more regional/Local group. You can create an event called “meet the facebook group” and offer an incentive to meet up at your establishment. This could even help in winning some PR and attracting business opportunities within the already established community.
2. Ask for an opinion about your product. People like giving feedback because it gives them the opportunity to express themselves. This will help you with product or service improvement and also helps with awareness, follow up this specific strategy with an exclusive discount to “thank them” for their help.
3. Giveaways are a great way to impulse the community to be part of your brand. Giveaways related to your product are ideal but making it fun with very valuable prizes can also attract a lot more attention. Things like giving to charity, sports, weight loss or anything that can tie back to your product or service can help win hearts and bring more awareness to your business.
Don’t be scared of social media, the way to engage is to dip into it like a cold pool. Start with your tip toes and little by little dip in until your swimming in it. You can hire pro’s to help but I always suggest to get to know about it first, because only you know your business the most.
